There will be a Mardi Gras-style fundraiser Friday for Julia Renz, the three-year-old Windsor girl who needs a heart transplant. Renz suffers from dilate cardiomyopathy, an affliction where the left ventricle becomes enlarged and makes it more difficult for the heart to pump blood effectively. The fundraiser will be held at 3 p.m. at the Duke of Windsor, 522 Main Street. The event will include merchant booths and thingytails from 3-6 p.m., a silent auction and live music featuring My Pet Fly, who will play from 9-10 p.m., a southern barbeque dinner from 4-6 p.m., a live auction from 6-7 p.m. and a runway fashion show from 7-8 p.m. Afterward, there will be dancing. The Duke of Windsor will also provide free rides home for residents within a 10-mile radius throughout the night. Colorado Ice players will also be present to sign autographs from 4-7 p.m. The event is $30 a person. Volunteers are still needed, and donations are still being accepted. For more information, contact Sherry Mascarenas at 381-0434, Karin Banghart at 674-2967 or Cathy Best at 218-0453. www.coloradoan.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008802210325
